We respond to many e-mails about eCleaner, and we are happy to answer each one. Here are some questions which appear in many different ways, shapes and forms through e-mail. To save your time, this FAQ page might answer your question faster than we can! If your question is not listed within the FAQ, e-mail us anytime at help@ecleanersoftware.com.
1. Does eCleaner work with Windows XP?
Yes! The latest versions of both the eCleaner freeware
version and professional are both compatible with Windows XP, as well as backwards
compatible for versions of Windows including but not limited to 95, 98, 2000,
ME and NT 4.0.
2. When I tried to run eCleaner, I received the error message: "Missing DLL, MSVBVM60.DLL"
Back in the early days of eCleaner, we included all the run-time files with the eCleaner installation file. However, as eCleaner's popularity grew, so did the load on our servers. We trimmed down the installation to the minimalist executable file, and notified our users that they needed the VB 6.0 runtime files in order to use eCleaner. If you are encountering an error message about a missing DLL, here are instructions on how to fix the problem, and enjoy eCleaner:
- Download the following file: http://www.ecleanersoftware.com/pro/MSVBVM60.dll
- Once the file download is complete, put it in your Windows System folder that may have a path similar to this: C:\Windows\System\
- After downloading the MSVBVM60.DLL file, copy it temporarily by right-clicking on the file and selecting Copy. Then using Explorer, or by navigating through the My Computer folders, find your Windows System directory. Inside there will be tons of different files, but that is not a problem.
- Within the System Folder window, right click somewhere
(not on a file) then select Paste from the pop-up menu. Now that the file
has been copied, eCleaner should function properly. If eCleaner continues
to give you the error message, make sure the file copied properly and/or restart
your computer.
3. Why does eCleaner close my browser windows when I clean?
Compared to other cache-clearing software available, eCleaner does a thorough job of making sure that all of the personal history information you want removed - is removed. In order to delete the Internet history records from Internet Explorer, eCleaner has to close all of your open browser windows to release the cache database from memory. eCleaner cannot directly edit the file while other software is writing to it, so right before a clean operation takes place, eCleaner will close your IE browser windows.
4. I can't have personal software loaded on this computer,
how do I uninstall eCleaner?
If you are not satisfied with eCleaner, send us an
email to let us know how we can improve it. Here are the uninstallation instructions
